DO YOU WANT MORE FROM YOUR NEXT YEAR?

Come and be a part of the CYC INTERNSHIP and grow in who you are,
your faith, and your leadership all while serving on camp!

Grow in faith. Lead with purpose. Live in community.

Are you looking for opportunities to grow in your awareness of who you are and who you are created to be? Do you want to be stretched in your faith and practically developed as a leader?

The CYC Internship is a one year gap year program for young adults aged 18 to 23. This is a crucial stage in life—a time when identity, direction, and faith are forming side by side. The Internship is designed to walk with you as you build strong foundations for the rest of your life.

Throughout the year, you will grow through personal formation, a deeper understanding of the Bible, hands-on leadership experience, and life in Christian community. The journey includes regular teaching, mentoring, small group discussions, and meaningful service alongside our amazing CYC staff team.

In partnership with Alphacrucis University College, you will also have the opportunity to study toward a Diploma of Ministry (8 units) or an Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry (4 units), with most classes held in person at the Alphacrucis campus in Melbourne CBD.

WHAT MAKES THE CYC INTERNSHIP UNIQUE?

There are three core elements that shape the Internship experience:

Study with Alphacrucis: Deepen your faith while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Interns will study at Alphacrucis University College in Melbourne CBD, choosing between:

Diploma of Ministry (8 units): Equips you to lead in church or non-profit ministry, and qualifies you for ministerial credentials within the Australian Christian Churches movement*

Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry (4 units): Builds foundational biblical knowledge and ministry skills, and prepares you for further study or roles in church and community settings

Learn more about studying with Alphacrucis here.

Serve with CYC: Step into hands-on ministry and real leadership development.

Throughout the year, Interns will work closely with a CYC staff member, supporting their area of ministry and taking responsibility for key tasks. You’ll gain real experience, grow in confidence, and develop your leadership in areas that match your passions and gifts.

Ministry areas include:
>Teen Camps
>Primary Camps
>Family Camps
>Leadership Development Events

This isn’t just observing ministry—it’s being part of the team that makes camp happen.

The Internship Community: Do life with others who are on the same journey.

The CYC Internship is built around a close-knit community of young adults navigating life and faith together. You will serve, learn, worship, and grow side by side, with plenty of fun, food, and shared moments along the way.

We gather regularly for training and input, attend conferences with CYC staff, and create space for deep relationships to form.

This is Christian formation at its best—honest, supportive, and transformational.

REFLECTIONS FROM PAST INTERNS.

The internship is the year I've needed. It has been a great opportunity to rebuild and grow my relationship with Jesus, and gain a better understanding of the Bible and how to share it. CYC has provided a lot of support and care while also challenging me to advance my skills and step out into new areas. I's a journey that's transforming and takes your leadership to the next level. And of course, plenty of fun, new friendships and camps along the way!

I started the internship with the goals of expanding my knowledge of camps and growing in my faith. I did both of these things as well as gaining many more friendships that will last a lifetime, learning how to look more deeply into what the Bible is saying and analyse it theologically. I got to see God move in so many lives as well as my own.

I have loved the community that I got to be in with the other Interns as well as the CYC staff, creating a bond with them that is everlasting. The Internship has taught me how to become a better leader, how to lead alongside others as well as being led. I've also learned how to grow my faith, my understanding of the Bible and develop my personal vision. So... do the internship! It's an amazing opportunity to grow your faith, your leadership and knowledge about yourself.
